Shortly after marrying the love of his life, the mother of his child, and the only woman he’ll ever marry, 22 year-old Navar Herbert passed away after months of battle with cancer. His wife, Maia Falwasser, was left with their son and with the beautiful but heartbreaking memories of their wedding day.

The video of their intimate wedding day last June 24, 2019 was uploaded to YouTube wherein the stunning bride and groom were seen exchanging vows. Though Navar was already in a wheelchair and was constantly assisted in the ceremony, he still pushed through with the wedding.

When it was his turn to speak to the love of his life  and though he was having a hard time, Navar said,

“Hello, my wife. Hello, my baby. I love you!”

In front of their closest family and friends, the two emotionally exchange rings and swore to love each other and be “partners for life”. The wedding guests tried their best to fight back their tears upon witnessing Navar and Maia proclaim their love for each other.

Navar is a rugby player from New Zealand. He and Maia, together with their son, live in Queensland, New Zealand. Months before their wedding, Navar was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Unfortunately, the illness quickly progressed that led to his tragic demise.

The pain that Maia might have felt when Navar passed away a day after their wedding has been unimaginable. It was certainly a tough time for her, but she sought comfort in the love and emotional support that their family and friends have showered them with.

Aside from finally marrying the woman he loved until his last breath, Navar also left a final request where he wished to be laid to rest in his hometown in Otorohanga, New Zealand.

And to fulfill her husband’s last wish, Maia set up a GoFundMe account to ask for donations to help them with the expenses in flying Navar’s body home to Otorohanga. On the GoFundMe page, Maia wrote:

“Today my heart is heavy and sad. I lost my best friend, husband, and the father to our Son. I feel absolutely showered in LOVE by friends and family. This is a hard time, however I do find my strength and refuge in everybody’s support.

“Navar’s Journey has just begun, shortly we will be taking him back to Kotahitanga Marae, where he has asked to be laid to rest. He has impacted so many people near and far, and he will always be in our memories and have a special place in our hearts.

“As expected, costs to take Navar back home along with his immediate family have been quite extensive, and to give us every opportunity to spend our last moments spending time with him, we are asking for donations to assist with this. I am truly truly appreciative of your support.

Aside fom this, Navar’s rugby club, Nerang Bulls Rugby Union Club Committee, also organized a fundraising to help Maia in fulfilling her husband’s final wish.
